Exceptional in the Ordinary
To be trained by God mentally, morally, and physically,
we give Him reign over our entire life. We don't have to be a super
mom or a sophisticated career woman to be used by God in an extraordinary
way.
God is calling us, every one of us, to be His disciples. He wants us
to be saints for Him. He wants us to become more and more in the likeness
of Him. We can do that if we give Him control over our lives and ourselves.
He will work through us and in us, transforming our environment and
our hearts. If we give up our worries, fears, and anger, we can be
forgiven, healed, and changed. We can go out into the world armed with
His power. We can become modern day disciples. It takes a few minutes
of discipline and a lifetime commitment of coming before Him.
We must let God transform our lives. The Holy Spirit of strength has
been given to us to help us and to remind us. It is our responsibility
to listen and obey when we hear that 'still, small voice' calling us
to pray. The discipline of praying at the appointed hours or reading
the bible, or both, each day is necessary so that God can instruct
us and we can follow Him.
We must give Him everything we have, leaving nothing of our sinful
selves behind. We can become saints for Him. We cannot do it on our
own; but we do not have to, for God is with us [Emmanuel]. We have
Jesus' 'supernatural grace' to overcome the stresses and temptations
of this world and ourselves. He gives us the power to be 'exceptional
in the ordinary'.
So pray the Lord's Prayer at the appointed hours and whenever the Holy
Spirit inspires you. Don't wait for a better time, pray when your conscience
is pricked.
Discipline of prayer will lead to unceasing prayer and transform us
into disciples through grace, into the image of Christ through the
Holy Spirit.
